The Book of Acts: Acts 1:1-11

Discussion question ideas:

1. What do the disciples’ question (and Jesus’ answer) in Acts 1:6-8 tell us about the disciples’ expectations of Jesus and his Kingdom? Do we ever struggle in this way?

2. Look at Luke 1:1-3 and Acts 1:1-3. What do we see about the reliability of our accounts of Jesus’ life and teachings? How important is the historicity of the gospel accounts?

3. What do you think is the significance of Jesus’ words in Acts 1:7?

4. What does a witness do? What makes an effective witness? Why might this be difficult?

5. Why do Jesus’ followers need the power Jesus mentions in Acts 1:8? Do we still need this power today? What difference does it make?
