Summer in the Psalms: Psalm 73

Discussion Questions:

1) Have you ever felt like the Psalmist, wondering how to reconcile the promises of God with the way the world seems to work? Did you ever come to any conclusions? What helped?

2) Is there any sense in which we can look at the relative blessings/prosperity in a person’s life and draw conclusions about their relationship with God?

3) What does the Psalmist mean in 73:21-22? In what sense can a person be like a dumb beast in relation to God? Have you ever been there?

4) What does Psalm 73:15-17 suggest about the importance of corporate worship and the community of God’s people?

5) What did the author of Psalm 73 conclude was the most important thing (Psalm 72:27-28)? Do you agree? How does this perspective shape your priorities?
